This blue marlin we caught on Saturday, June 21, 2003. My name is Wayne Whippen and the boat was our 61' Viking the TIGHTLINE. My friend Myles Reis was the angler, with Captain Brian Speedy running the boat and Stedman Birch the mate.

To our knowledge, this is the largest blue marlin ever caught in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The fish unfortunately came up dead. She was 127" short length (base of bill) and 67" in girth. The estimate was between 700 and 750 lbs. according to the equation. The fish came up and inhaled 3 teasers, one only 3 feet off the transom, before grabbing a Joe Yee Superplunger lure on our short rigger. Myles spent about 45 minutes with an 80 lb. rig to get the fish to the boat.
